D&C 6

8: Even as you desire of me so it shall be unto you; and if you desire, you shall be the means of doing much good in this generation.

10: Behold thou hast a gift, and blessed art thou because of they gift. Remember it is sacred and cometh from above.

13: If thou wilt do good, yea, and hold out faithful to the end, thou shalt be saved in the kingdom of God, which is the greatest of all the gifts of God; for there is no gift greater than the gift of salvation.

D&C 5

22: And that you be firm in keeping the commandments wherewith I have commanded you.
23: Stop and stand still until I command thee, and I will provide means whereby thou mayest accomplish the thing which I have commanded thee.

to be firm in keeping the commandments stuck out to me as I was reading. There is only one right way to do it and that is the way that the Lord commanded. If we follow him in every way then we will not be lead astray.
Stop and stand still  unitl I command me also made me realize that if I am rushing around and not leaving time to ponder and pray to my Heavenly Father than I will not be able to hear what he wants me to do.

D&C 3

2: For God doth not walk in crooked paths, neither doth he turn to the right hand nor to the left, neither doth he vary from that which he hath said, therefore his paths are straight, and his course is one eternal round.
8: Yet you should have been faithful; and he would have extended his arm and supported you against all the fiery darts of the adversary; and he would have been with you in every time of trouble.

D&C 2

And he shall plant in the hearts of the children the promises made to the fathers, and the hearts of the children shall turn to their fathers. If it were not so, the whole earth would be utterly wasted at his coming.

"If familes were not sealed in holy temples, the whole earth would be utterly wasted."
Elder Russel M. Nelson

D&C 1

12: Prepare ye, prepare ye for that which is to come
28: And inasmuch as they were humble they might be made strong and blessed from on high, and receive knowledge from time to time.
37: Search these commandments, for they are true and faithful, and the prophecies and promises which are in them shall all be fulfilled.
38: Whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same.

I learned a lot of different things while in this chapter. I need to be constantly preparing by following the Lord's commandments and what he has the living prophets teach us to do.

Of Things That Matter Most

"It is good advice to slow down a little, steady the course, and focus on the essentials when experience adverse conditions."

"When we look at the foundational principles of the plan of happiness, the plan of salvation, we can recognize and appreciate in its plainness and simplicity the elegance and beauty of our Heavenly Father's wisdom. Then, turning our ways to His ways is the beginning of our wisdom."

"First our relationship with God is most sacred and vital. We experience greater peace, joy, and fulfillment as we give our best to live according to God's eternal plan and keep His commandments."
"Our second key relationship is with our families. We build deep and loving family relationships by doing simple things together, like family dinner and family home evening and by just having fun together. In family relationships love is really spelled t-i-m-e, time. Taking time for each other is the key for harmony at home."

"The third key relationship we have is with our fellowman. We build this relationship one person at a time - by being sensitive to the needs of others, serving them, and giving of our time and talents."
"The fourth key relationship is with ourselves. May I suggest that you reduce the rush and take a little extra time to get to know yourself better. Learn to see yourself as Heavenly Father sees you - as His precious daughter or son with divine potential."

Stay on the Path

"We begin to make the plan known to our children when we hold tight to the iron rod ourselves. When we are holding tight to the iron rod, we are in a position to place our hands over theirs and walk the strait and narrow path together."

As I am about to be a mom (kind of a scary thought when I really think about it) I have been thinking about all the things that I want to teach to my new little boy. There is so many important things to teach him and how am I supposed to know if I am doing everything right or not. Then I realized, as long as I am doing my best it will be just perfect. If I keep the spirit with me and in our home then he will guide me and show me what is most important and help me be the best mom in the world.
